
Incompass Michigan administers a self-insured workers’ compensation insurance fund for its members
Established in 1988, the Fund aims to help its members manage and reduce their long-term workers’ compensation costs.
The fund focuses on providing low, reliable, and predictable costs through industry-specific claims management and reduced expenses, passing savings back to its members. Since its inception, the fund has returned over $28 million in dividends and discounts, averaging a 38% premium return.
The fund is owned and operated by its members and offers protection similar to an insurance company. Claims are managed by Broadspire, a third-party administrator, while excess insurance is provided by Midwest Employers Casualty Company, which holds an A+ rating from A.M. Best. Incompass Michigan staff provide loss prevention consulting and safety audits, and fund investments are managed by Smalley Investments. The fund operates under the authority of the Michigan Labor and Economic Opportunity/Workers’ Compensation Agency.
