The Employment Services Certificate is being offered by MARO and is based on a curriculum developed by TransCen, Inc. The certificate curriculum is endorsed by Association for Community Rehabilitation Educators (ACRE).

This Employment Services Certificate is comprised of 12 hours of face to face training and an additional  28 hour online course of instruction, mentoring, and field based experiences.

Upon completion of the required 40 hour training, you will receive an “ACRE Certificate of Achievement.”

This  session will be facilitated by MARO Communications Director, Renee Hall.  Trainer, Heather Barsy, was selected from MARO member organization MRC Industries and has been certified as instructor through MARO’s participation in the Employment First State Leadership Mentoring Program.

Heather Barsy is the Director of Community Employment at MRC Industries in Kalamazoo.  Heather has over 10 years of experience in employment placement and recruitment, with 8 years devoted specifically in the career development of people with disabilities. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work from Western Michigan University where she graduated Summa Cum Laude and was the recipient of the Presidential Scholar Award.




Renee Hall joined the MARO team in July of 2015.  She has extensive experience in vocational research and website design and development.  She has specialty experience in internet accessibility and digital access. She also has experience as a direct service provider working with people with traumatic brain injuries, substance abuse, mental illness, and developmental disabilities.

Renee holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Religious Studies, a Bachelor of Arts degree in English, and a Master of Arts degree in Rehabilitation Counseling all from Michigan State University.

Renee also serves on the Executive Board of the Michigan Rehabilitation Association, serves on the Board of Directors  of TriCounty TRIAD, and as the Communications Chair for BOOM Awards, a statewide recognition program for individuals with disabilities.


Registration for this session is for the first 12 hours of face to face instruction.
